Research Lab

The bedrock of moving any industry forward starts with research. At BlueTree we embrace a continuous learning approach, recognising that the future cannot be sustainable if we persist in our current ways of living.

By blending the rich heritage and traditions of the past with the advancements in technology and innovation available to us today, we strive to create a harmonious balance. Our Research Lab is a testament to our commitment, where we:

  • Explore best practices

  • Select materials thoughtfully

  • Optimise processes for efficiency

  • Conduct life cycle analysis.

This dedicated space allows us to deliver continuous learning experiences, generate innovative ideas for our clients, and build a cradle-to-cradle framework.

Construction

With a background in classical training, BlueTree build hulls using both traditional and modern techniques, with cold moulded being our preferred construction method.

Timber is our material of choice. Correctly specified and designed, wood outperforms its competitors, offering not only aesthetic and tactile appeal but also superior insulation properties. It boasts low energy consumption during conversion and promotes efficient waste recycling.

As a crop cultivated and harvested sustainably, timber acts as a carbon sink, absorbing CO2 and releasing oxygen. This aligns perfectly with our vision of creating harmony between boat building and the natural world, exemplifying our commitment to responsible practices.

Fit-out

The fit-out is all about making the boat come to life. Connecting the lines and joining the dots.

Finishing

This is certainly very true in the boat building industry. However the final level of detailing - both the interior and exterior - is the one that gets noticed first.

“The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.”
