Restoring a 1938 enclosed Chris-Craft river cruiser

Back in January we decided to take in a 1938 enclosed Chris-Craft river cruiser. It was gifted to us from David Hitchcock in Cornwall. We were successful in obtaining a STRIDE funding application which allowed us to bring the Chris-Craft to Lyme Regis. Since then we’ve stripped back the paint allowing Colin Henwood to survey the boat and help write up an Action Plan.

We’ve successful found the hull number, contacted the Mariner’s Museum in the US and now have the certified official hull card.

Since then it’s gone a bit quiet on the Chris-Craft as we try and work out a way to scan the boat in order to bring it back to life in a virtual capacity. This will allow potential clients to see what the boat will look like in the future. Our intention is to bring back the classic lines of boat and blend it with modern living. Stay tuned!
